Dear Colleague,

I have been asked many times to arrange a meeting to discuss applications of the Field and Laboratory Emission Cell - FLEC. Today there are FLEC-users in most European countries and in four continents across the world and the time is right for a fruitful exchange of ideas and experiences.

As you know, a meeting was arranged for Hamburg in early October. Unfortunately this had to be postponed, but I am now pleased to be able to be announce that the meeting will go ahead in Copenhagen on the 26th and 27th of November instead. I apologise for the late notice of this change and hope the new date and venue are convenient for as many of you as possible. The program is essentially the same as that previously arranged. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to both Dr. Wensing from TÜV Nord and Dr. Salthammer from the Wilhelm-Klauditz-Institut for their efforts in coordinating earlier plans. I would also like to thank the speakers for their flexibility accepting the new arrangement.

The focus of the meeting is FLEC applications. As well as presentations from leaders in the field, the agenda will include plenty of opportunity for informal discussions with experts and colleagues. All FLEC users are encouraged to bring a poster to illustrate their methods and applications.

The meeting will now take place in the National Institute of Occupational Health in Copenhagen on 26th – 27th November 1998. Thanks to Dr. Wolkoff – a pioneer of FLEC technology – for his input and assistance in arranging this venue.

I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience and to a successful meeting.

Sincerely yours

Poul Erik Soerensen
